Collectively in the 13-County region, persons over the age of 25 who completed high school diplomas was estimated at 26.23%, which is higher when compared with the State of Texas at 25.30%. The AACOG 13-county region has a larger percentage at 23.62% of persons that have some college credits but did not complete their education than the State of Texas at 21.80%. Persons over the age of 25 residing in the 13-county region that hold Bachelors or Graduate Degrees is slightly lower at 26.53% when compared to Texas at 28.40%.

The percentage of the population for each educational attainment category in each respective County is shown in the following Table. When comparing the percentage of persons in the 13-county area who have less than a high school diploma to Texas at 17.60%, there are five counties who have a higher percent of their county population falling in this category – Frio at 34.40%, Karnes at 26.20%, Atascosa at 24.20%, McMullen at 23.70% and Medina at 18.30%. The State of Texas has 35.30% of the population over the age of 25 holding an Associate’s – Graduate and Higher Degrees, in comparison, there are three counties that have a higher percentage of their population holding Associate’s – Graduate and higher Degrees – Kendall at 48.30%, Comal at 41.50%, and Gillespie at 38.40%.
